Your primary role is to ensure that all products sold by Screwfix are safe, fit for their intended purpose, comply with all applicable regulations and policies, in all Screwfix markets. This is achieved through a process of product assessments and recurring supplier auditing, requiring a high level of competence in your product areas.  

The role will see you supporting in the investigation of products with high returns or poor reviews, with the aim to continually improve the quality of the products we sell. You will be the technical expert, in your categories, offering support and assistance where required.

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the quality, safety, and compliance of all products entering the business within specific allocated categories. 
  • Ensure the products we sell comply with UK and European Safety Standards and are of a quality fit for intended purpose, as laid out in the Screwfix Quality Manual and Kingfisher Group policies. 
  • Be responsible for conducing initial and recurring audits of suppliers against the Screwfix Supplier Audit document, to ensure required levels of performance are achieved. 
  • Work with Kingfisher Group and internal Commercial teams to ensure that new shared products are suitable for Screwfix’s Trade market, assisting them in new product development and regulation compliance. 
  • Implementing amendments to Regulations and Product Standards, to ensure that all products Screwfix sell remain in compliance. 
  • Assist in the assessment of products for Screwfix International.  
  • Supporting the Continuous Improvement Team in driving reductions to returns levels through continual improvement to product packaging and quality, through supplier interaction and root cause investigations. 
  • Supporting the investigation and resolution of escalated customer complaints. 
  • Supporting with the copy checking catalogue and product artwork, to ensure accurate advertising as well as regulatory and legal compliance. 

Qualifications

  • Would suit technically minded person, ideally educated to degree level or with relevant practical experience.  
  • Have a logical and analytical thought process. Can identify problems that other people may miss 
  • Prior commercial and quality experience beneficial. 
  • Ability to prioritise and maintain workload to specific deadlines. 
  • Must be a team player, energetic and able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with drive and self-motivation.  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately. 
  • Flexible and adaptable with an eye for detail. 
  • Excel, Word, and PowerPoint knowledge are essential.
